Trials
Why do good people have to go through hard things? Why does my best friend have IBS? Why does my Aunt have Cancer? Why do I have Type One Diabetes? I don't have an exact answer to those questions. I don't need an exact answer though. Trials are what we chose when we chose to come to earth in The Pre-mortal Life. If everything in life were easy, would we learn and grow? Would we know true happiness? Trials give us a different perspective. A perspective that we can use to help others with their pain.
I believe in cures. Yes, but I don't think this life is about finding a cure. I don't think this life is so much about fixing our problems, as it is learning and growing from our problems. Trials are hard and they really really stink a lot, but if you can't find peace and happiness while in them, will you be able to find peace and happiness without them?
I don't think Heavenly Father gives us our trials; I think we chose them for ourselves. We knew before we came down to earth. We could see the joy that we would experience, even while we were struggling. How beautiful and magical is this whole plan. My Aunt is a beautiful example to me of finding peace in the rough times. She always says she doesn't want to "beat" her cancer. She wants to learn what it has to teach her. She strives to find peace amidst everything crashing in.
We have so much in store for us after this life. Why try to create this "perfect" vision of life that everyone has, when we could be learning, progressing, strengthening, and feeling. This life is about trying harder every day. If life were perfect and without trial, what would we have to strive for?
